Wholesome Honey

Honey & Vanilla is the representative distributor of Uganda Honey’s premium label ‘Savannah Bush Honey’ for Asia. 

Uganda honey is harvested from one of the most ferocious species of honeybees, Apis Mellifera Scutellata, foraging in the natural unspoiled environment of rural Uganda.  These bees are resilient to viruses affecting most other honeybees and thus no antibiotics or medical treatment is needed on them.  Special care is taken to allow the bees to live as naturally as possible with minimum human intervention to maintain this blessed status.

In Northern Uganda where bees forage amongst the Savannah Vegetarian, the honey is found to be extra-rich in mineral contents due to the abundance of extraflora nectaries found in the region.  Samples of every batch of honey harvested are sent to The University of Hohenheim (Stuttgart-Germany) for Melissopalynology test according to the stringent parameters set by The European Union Honey Legislation.

Organic Vanilla

Honey & Vanilla brings to you fine quality, hand-selected organic vanilla beans of variety vanilla planifolia sourced from Uganda, Africa.  Our agriculture partner is driven by the passion to produce pure and exceptional products, in harmony with nature and in a way that is lasting and fair.

Exceptional attention is paid to soil and micro-climate to cater for the vanilla plants to thrive according to their natural environment without the use of chemicals.  Harvesting is highly selective to assure that only mature and healthy crops are picked.  Clean working conditions coupled with advanced curing process, the fine quality of the vanilla beans is reflected in the pure and intense aroma and high vanillin content. 

Central to their philosophy is the preservation of land integrity and sustainability of environment.  This spans beyond their cultivated land, to the conservation of surrounding forests, rivers and wildlife to assure harmonious co-existence of man and nature. Transparency, mutual respect and fairness are the cornerstones of their relationships with local farmers.  Our agriculture partner follows fair trade standards to assure their farmers and their families can succeed and build their future on a cooperative partnership that is lasting and fair.

     

The vanilla beans are certified organic according to EU 2092/91 and USDA NOP and certified fair-trade according to the Fair for Life – IMO Social and FairTrade standard.  All the produce of our agriculture partner are free from genetically modified organis and certification control is conducted by IMO Switzerland.  Product analysis is in compliance with ISO 17025:2005 by CHEMIPHAR Laboratories.
